Coated paper
Uncoated wood free paper is coated with various chemicals or even polymer to impart certain qualities in paper for enhancing printing quality by improving weight, surface gloss, smoothness, reduced ink absorbency and longer life. Various kinds of coating material are used such as Kaolinite (also known as china clay), calcium carbonate, bentonite together with calendaring for creating high end printing substrate for magazines and advertising materials.
Most common gsm are 80- 120gsm
Mostly available in reel( also on sheets on request)
Cast coated paper and Art board
• Cast Coated paper and Art Board: Uncoated paper are coated with liquid lacquer (can be made from Kaolin, calcium Sulphate and precipitated calcium carbonate) held together with binding latex . Gloss or matt or silk finish can be imparted under controlled processing. The wet coating is applied by applicator rollers and is pressed against highly finished chromium cylinders heated inside. As the coating film dries it takes on the even, glossy surface of coating surface of cylinder hence it is known as cast coated.
• This paper is used for high end finish frequently used in printing of packaging cartons such as perfumes and toiletries, advertising and top covers of glossy magazines AND also for INKJET photographic printing using dye based inkjet ink. (Non pigment ink)
