Electrical insulation papers are generally a type of specialized Kraft paper used in electrical insulation. Paper is natural cellulose based which offers outstanding insulation properties when produced with deionized or even distilled water so as to have no ionic conductivity in the paper or in other words such a paper offers 100 percent insulation to voltage leak or shock absorber to mitigate/eliminate transmission loss.

Typical applications:

• High voltage power cable
• Transformers:
o Paper covering /conductor covering applications (copper or Aluminum) is wrapped with insulating Kraft paper (covering can be DPC or TPC or multiple covering depending upon applications) Most commonly used are DPC (Double paper covering) Conductor can be a round one (Wire) or rectangular (Strip)
o Interlayer applications: The paper covered conductor is formed as a coil (round coil/rectangular coil). The insulating Kraft paper is sued in between each layer of a coil. The purpose is to insulate each layer from the other. Winding the paper-covered conductors with many layers based on design forms the coil.

All these are processed in controlled conditions maintaining the conformity in all the stages of processes. TAI produces the insulating paper as per the daily / monthly plan. Various processes involved in producing the insulating paper include Pulping & Refining, Paper Machine process (Wire, Press part and Dryers), Calendaring & Super calendaring and Re-winding. All the processes are identified and the process mappings of the same are documented which indicates the activities involved in the process. The various process specifications documented ensures the smooth implementation of the processes and maintenance of records.
