WHAT IS CORROSION?

Corrosion is a constant, indiscriminate and costly enemy of metal parts, especially when packaged for storage and distribution. Traditional anti-corrosion methods are messy, costly and can be hazardous to personnel and the environment. Too often, they are ineffective as well.

Globally the losses every year due to corrosion are estimated to be unimaginable US$ 828 billion per annum. i.e. US$ 2.27 Billion per day. (NACE)

WHAT IS A VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor)?

VCI is a mixture of special chemicals that constantly vaporize and create gases, which have anti – corrosion properties. These vapors form a very thin protective film layer around the metal surface and prevent the metal from the corrosion action.

VCI chemicals dissociate into anions and cations with moisture as an electrolyte. These anions and cations associate with anodic and cathodic reactive areas respectively on the metal surface forming a mono-ionic protective layer, making it inert for any further reaction such as oxidation/rusting. Any loss of ions is replenished through further condensation of vapor ensuring continuous protection.

VCI Paper, or Vapour Corrosion Inhibitor paper, is a Kraft packaging paper manufactured with added VCI chemistry. VCI molecules protect metals from corrosion by forming a thin, invisible layer on the surface. This layer inhibits the corrosion process caused by oxygen, water and contaminants.

Anti-corrosive VCI Crepe paper is a specially matured creped Kraft paper with long-lasting active VCI reserve that offers strong corrosion protection while also offering cushioning effect to the wrapped components.

APPLICATION:

VCI Crepe Papers can be used for packing of heavy duty steel coils, as interleaving layers in the wire industry, packing of castings, forgings and pressed component metal, auto, and engineering components, etc.

CONSTRUCTION

VCI Crepe Paper is a specially matured creped kraft paper impregnated with high tech, eco-friendly VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors) solution. Creping is the process, which comprises of crinkling (to form wrinkles) the normal paper to convert into crepe paper.

Thus more area of paper is compacted in original area of paper, providing cushioning & stretching effect to paper along with much more effective & long-term corrosion protection.
